The World's Biggest Liar Competition Holmrook CA19 1UX

Each November the Bridge Inn, in Holmrook, Cumbria, is venue for the The World's Biggest Liar Competition.

Set amongst the rolling hills and the sugar caves of the Wasdale Valley, the Santon Bridge Inn attracts fibbers, liars and storytellers from around the globe to share their tall stories and win the coveted title.

Participants have up to five minutes to tell the biggest and most convincing lie they can, without the aid of any props. Each year politicians are conspicuous by their absence.

The history of the event stretches back to the 19th century when the former publican, Will Ritson, entertained customers with stories of the heritage of the Wasdale Valley.
